Druck UNIK 5000H Hydrogen Focused Pressure sensor

With the development of hydrogen as an energy carrier in various industries, there is an increasing need for reliable and accurate pressure measurement solutions, which must be compatible with the unique characteristics of hydrogen. The Druck UNIK 5000H pressure sensor has been optimized to withstand these harsh measurement conditions.

 

Hydrogen poses two major challenges to pressure sensors - hydrogen permeation and embrittlement. Hydrogen can diffuse into many metals, causing them to become brittle and potentially crack over time. This hydrogen embrittlement process will reduce the stability and accuracy of the sensor. Hydrogen can also easily penetrate into many materials, reducing performance and possibly causing drift and instability.

 

To counter these influences, the UNIK 5000H employs stainless steel 316L diaphragms, which, due to their low carbon content and the addition of molybdenum and nickel, exhibit excellent resistance to hydrogen embrittlement. In addition, the use of high-performance coating barriers on the diaphragm minimizes the impact of hydrogen permeation, extends the service life of the sensor, and provides first-class long-term stability.

 

Another key aspect of the UNIK 5000H is its configurable modular design. Customers can easily choose from a variety of pressure ranges, outputs, connectors and other options to build sensors that suit their specific application requirements. The measurement range is from 700mbar (10psi) to 700bar (10,000 PSI). This extensive configurability enables the UNIK 5000H to meet the hydrogen application requirements in fields such as transportation, chemical processing, and energy production.

In addition to its hydrogen resistance, the UNIK 5000H also offers high performance that is crucial for precision process monitoring and control tasks.

 

The best-in-class accuracy can reach ±0.04% of the full scale.

The millisecond-level rapid response time allows for real-time pressure trends.

Overpressure protection is up to four times the maximum range, providing certain protection under harsh conditions.

The operating temperature range is from -55°C to 125°C(-67°F to 257°F) to adapt to different hydrogen equipment conditions.

For output and integration flexibility, the UNIK 5000H offers MV-level, 4-20mA, linearized voltage (e.g. 0-5V or 0-10V), and configurable output options. The configurable output version can be customized according to any voltage range required by the user's control system. These plug-and-play outputs eliminate external signal conditioning. The hazardous area has been approved for use in potentially explosive environments.
